The AGM will take place on May 9th @ 19:00 to 21:00 at The West County Hotel.  Please see the agenda for the evening below.

We will have our meeting for one hour and then we are opening up the meeting at 20:00 for non members to join us to discuss the new regulations the NTA are considering

Dear Members,

Martin Plummer, the NCDAI Chairman, will attend the Taxi Council Meeting on 9th March to represent the NCDAI members.  We are aware there are issues & difficulties with regards to the SGS/NCT tests, SPSV licensing and getting vehicles successfully passed out and eligible to work legally.

We would appreciate if the members who have experienced these difficulties would be able to advise of same by return so that Martin can raise these issues/ difficulties at the meeting on March 9th.  Please email the details to any/ all of the following addresses-  ghfoley@hotmail.com; info@martinplummer.com; info@ccsl.eu.


 
 
To all members;

This year, in accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the NCDA Ltd, the

Secretary and Treasurer must stand down. Subsequently, these positions must be filled by the

election of two members (nominated and seconded by members) at the AGM to complete the

formation of the new representative committee.

Can all members consider this, and send their nominations (proposed and seconded) in writing to

the Chairman of the Association Martin Plummer at least 10 days prior to the AGM (22nd of March

2016).

                                "Calling all members: A General Election is coming"

Members, a general election is coming. Now is the time to get behind a push to have the new

elected representatives of the country change the legislation for the admission of  vehicles to use

Bus Lanes. For over 20 years Limousines (Small Public Service Vehicles) have not been allowed

to use Bus Lanes, but Taxis (Small Public Service Vehicles) have. It is now time to end this discrimination.

All members are asked to make a point of raising this matter with any canvasser, politician, or prospective

candidate, they meet over the next month! It is now only a political decision that will enforce this change.

Many approaches have been made successfully to enlist the backing of interested parties on this subject.

Only the Department of Transport have consistently rejected the admission of Limousines to Bus Lanes. We

have had the support of all Tourism Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Employers (local and

Multinational) and other numerous Federations. We have received understanding from The Gardaí and the

Courts service.

However, Transport for Ireland (formerly the NTA, our licencing authority) will not support us because the

Department instructs them so. The traffic policies of the country (not just Dublin) are heavily influenced

by C.I.E. (and it's various arms, Bus Eireann, Dublin Bus, DART, LUAS, or Irish Rail). They believe that only

their vehicles should have access to certain parts of the public road. They object strenuously to other

vehicles being allowed in Bus Lanes.

The time has come to MAKE A STAND. In Dublin over the next 10 - 15 years Limousines may be barred from

entering many areas of the city centre. O' Connell Street, Batchelor's Walk, Westmoreland Street, D'Olier

Street, College Green, Dame Street, Suffolk Street, Georges Quay, etc. This could be replicated in other

cities throughout the country.   

 
 
Dublin Airport - T1 Departures Road Closure

Notice dated: August 31 2015

The Terminal 1 Departures Road will be closed to all vehicles from 4am Tuesday, September 1 until 11am Friday, September 4 to facilitate essential survey work.

Customers wishing to set down at Terminal 1 during these times will be redirected to an alternative drop off location behind the T1 multi-storey car park.

A traffic management system will be in place to help customers during this time.

The Terminal 2 Departures set down area will continue to operate as normal.

Dublin Airport apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this essential work.

conduct and performance, fails to adhere to our Code of Ethics and Standards in any way. The
minimum requirement of any member (operator) is to provide a quality, clean, correctly licenced
and insured vehicle, driven by a professional, courteous and discreet driver. We would ask members
to consider all of their colleagues in the way that they fulfill their committments. Individual actions,
good and bad, are reflective of all other operators, and are considered by the public and the
authorities to be the standards of Limousine operators generally. Please uphold the high standards
that we have sought in the past, and maintain the excellent reputation that our Association and it's

The Licensed Taxi Drivers Association say that minicab drivers used by Uber calculate fares on the app, despite it being illegal for private vehicles to use taximeters. Transport for London says it does not believe the app is breaking the law.

The capital's roads could descend into gridlocked chaos at the June protest, the union warned.




Black cab drivers could barricade roads in London in protest at apps like Uber "Transport for London not enforcing the Private Hire Vehicles Act is dangerous for Londoners," Steve McNamara, LTDA's general secretary, told the BBC.

"I anticipate that the demonstration against TfL's handling of Uber will attract many many thousands of cabs and cause severe chaos, congestion and confusion across the metropolis."

TfL says the app is connected with a specific vehicle, and simply uses of data about the distance travelled and time taken, which is not illegal.

The authority said in a statement: "We have seen no evidence to suggest that Uber London Ltd are not fit and proper to hold a London private hire vehicle operator's licence, but no final decisions have been made whilst Uber's operating model is still under investigation."

Uber operates in more than 100 cities across 30 countries, and has rapidly grown in popularity for allowing customers to pay by card in advance of their journey. It also promotes its safety features, allowing customers to see the name and photo of a driver, and allows friends to follow the cab's journey on a map.

"Uber, funded by Google, Goldman Sachs and others, has a stated aim of challenging legislation that is not compatible with its business model," continued McNamara.

"This is not some philanthropic friendly society, it's an American monster that has no qualms about breaching any and all laws in the pursuit of profit, most of which will never see a penny of tax paid in the UK."
